Job Summary
Start Date - October 10th for non-licensed & November 7th for licensed in Personal Lines or P&C
Hours - The department is open Monday-Friday 7:15am-9pm CST and Saturday 7:45am-4:15pm CST. Must be flexible with the hours.
We're looking for sales-driven, enthusiastic early-career talent, seasoned sales professionals, or those looking to make a career change to join our next class of Sales Consultants!
In this role, you will respond to calls coming into our call center by positively promoting Farmers Personal Lines insurance products to prospective customers, consulting with customers to understand their needs, and selling those products which best fit the customer's needs. You will earn a competitive base salary in addition to monthly incentive earnings based upon your performance.
We provide 9+ weeks of paid training, combining virtual classroom and hands-on learning with mentoring to ensure that you have the skills you need to succeed at Farmers. Ongoing coaching and training will remain a focus throughout your career to help you grow in your role and advance to new opportunities.
Essential Job Functions
- Sell insurance products to inbound callers by gathering data from customers to generate quotes and ultimately bind the business; in some instances, make outbound calls
- Provide exceptional customer service and build strong relationships, while educating customers regarding coverages and cost so that the customer can select the most appropriate option
- Qualify customers as buyers of other product/services to create cross-sell and upselling opportunities
- Navigate multiple computer systems while seamlessly interacting with the customer
- A passion for selling and consulting, and a motivation to earn money based on your performance
- A welcome approach to feedback and coaching, and a continuous desire to learn and improve your skills and job performance
- Excellent customer focus and the ability to easily connect and build rapport with all types of people
- The ability to stay organized and efficient, while managing multiple tasks and working across several systems throughout the day
- The ability to quickly learn and adapt to new technology, processes, and procedures; confidence in your ability to problem-solve and troubleshoot to find answers independently
- Proven success working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
- Personal Lines or P&C license is preferred, but not required upon hire. If unlicensed, Farmers will provide paid pre-licensing preparation during training, as you must obtain license to sell within your state of residency.
- The ability to obtain resident/non-resident property and casualty license in all states
- Experience in Personal Lines or P&C insurance sales in preferred
- Minimum of 1 year of Customer Service experience required (including retail, hospitality, and restaurant experience); Call center experience is a plus
- Direct sales skills, and the aptitude to influence customers and close the sale
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; the ability to adapt communication style to each phone call, and explain complex policy and coverage information in understandable terms
- Strong PC and software skills required
- Proven sales skill, results, ability to close sale
- Advanced conflict resolution skills
- Consistently meeting or exceeding performance measurement goals.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- College degree preferred.
- Obtains resident/non-resident property and casualty license.
- Completion of required additional training.
Besides some sedentary work, job duties require some or all of the following physical activities: Standing, carrying/lifting up to 10 pounds, seeing and hearing, walking, reaching, pushing and pulling, and speaking, reading, and writing.

Required job duties are normally performed in a climate- controlled office environment.
