The IT Facility Engineer is responsible for creating detailed solution designs and documentation for shoreside IT facilities. This position is responsible for all physical deployments of network, server and storage infrastructure within our data centers, hub sites, PoP locations, land-based offices, seaports, and cruise terminals. The person is responsible for maintaining and operating shoreside data center locations at peak performance. Driving facility standards and construction such as power, cooling, labeling, and structured cabling.
Scope also includes terrestrial circuits planning, contract review and deployment. Oversee statement of work execution from local facility companies.
This role will support cross-departmental collaboration and internal communications with staff throughout the organization and service providers while promoting a positive work environment that supports consistency and drives efficiencies.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Prepare plans for development and installation of data center infrastructure according to present and future requirements
- Ensure the completion of Facility infrastructure equipment installations within the agreed SLA timeframe and to applicable internal, manufacture and industry standards
- Monitor data center critical infrastructure 24X7, manage upgrade projects and third-party vendor relationships, and coordinate repairs and maintenance
- Prepare and implement ???Standard Operating Procedures??? (SOPs) for the operation of all data center critical assets
- Work with building Operations team to ensure site safety and compliance
- Ensure all deployments are installed to applicable internal, manufacture and industry standards
- Troubleshoot data center equipment, identify issues, and assist in timely resolution.
- Manage and perform research to design new advanced data center
- Ensure that all records are updated following any changes made and that documentation is also kept up to date for all applicable processes
- Coordinate with various departments and perform integration of critical systems into infrastructure
- Drive toolsets evaluation and integration
- Provide direct supervision to data center facilities technicians and support personnel
- Provide management with performance reporting of tasks, technicians, and support functions within all key activities
- Maintain data center security compliance to existing ISO-27001 certification and implementing any future certifications as required by the business
- Terrestrial circuits research, planning and deployments
- Act as engineering escalation for issues encountered
- Provide system support and troubleshooting expertise as needed for designed solutions
- Provides technical and tactical support to team subordinates when directed or necessary to deliver
- Understand advances and changes in the technology industry and work directly with equipment manufactures to assess new technologies
- Provide technical solutions for deployment of compute, storage and network infrastructure into data centers, main distribution frames (MDF) and intermediate distribution frames (IDF)
- Deployment of circuits for wide area connections
- Requires regular movement throughout CCL facilities
- Must be able to lift in excess of 50 pounds
- May need to stand for long periods of time
- 25-50% non-shipboard travel likely
- A bachelor???s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electric Engineering, Computer Science, or Information Systems
- 5 years + of direct, relevant Network implementation and troubleshooting skills including firewalls, switches, routers, media converters, and access points
- 5+ years of experience installing and troubleshooting server and storage infrastructure
- 5 years + of direct, relevant Data Center employment of PDU, UPS, ATR, etc.
- Experience with Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM) tools
- Familiarity with software such as Nlyte, Asana Project Management, Harvest Time Tracking, ServicePro, SolarWinds, and StruxureWare Data Center Expert or similar
- Project management experience, with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve problems
- Strong interpersonal skills working with highly technical engineers and architects
- Strong customer-service orientation
- Excellent written and oral communication skills

- Ability to communicate ideas in both technical and user-friendly language

The range for this role???s base salary is $83,182 - $121,000. Offers to selected candidates will be made on a fair and equitable basis, taking into account specific job-related skills and experience.
