We???re looking for an amazing Engineer, Power BI Visualization to fill this role, which is based in our Seattle office. You???ll be responsible for playing a crucial role in transforming complex data into visually appealing and insightful reports and dashboards. Your expertise in creating compelling Power BI visuals will enable our organization to make data-driven decisions and gain valuable insights.

Responsibilities


  • Develop and design visually compelling Power BI reports and dashboards that effectively communicate complex data and insights to stakeholders. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including data analysts, business stakeholders, and IT professionals, to understand data requirements and translate them into effective visualizations

  • Implement best practices for data visualization, ensuring consistency, clarity, and usability across all reports and dashboards. Analyze and interpret complex data sets to identify trends, patterns, and opportunities for improvement

  • Stay up to date with the latest trends and advancements in data visualization techniques and tools and propose innovative approaches to enhance the visualization capabilities of our organization. Conduct regular quality checks and audits to ensure accuracy and integrity of data visualizations

  • Provide training and guidance to users on how to effectively interpret and use Power BI visuals. Collaborate with the data engineering team to optimize data models and ensure the availability of reliable and timely data for visualization purposes. Continuously monitor and evaluate the performance of Power BI reports and dashboards, identifying areas for improvement and implementing necessary enhancements

  • Stay informed about industry best practices and emerging trends in data visualization and apply them to enhance the overall effectiveness and impact of our data reporting capabilities

  • Additional duties and ad hoc projects as assigned by the manager

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, Data Science, or a related field. Master's degree is a plus

  • Minimum 3-5 years of recent Power BI data model development experience

  • Proven work experience as a Power BI Visualization Expert or similar role, with a strong portfolio of successful Power BI visualizations

  • In-depth knowledge of Power BI, including data modeling, DAX formulas, and custom visualizations

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and SQL for data manipulation and analysis

  • Strong understanding of data visualization best practices, including color theory, layout, and user experience design

  • Experience working with large and complex datasets, and the ability to transform raw data into meaningful insights

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen eye for detail

  • Ability to effectively communicate complex concepts and insights to both technical and non-technical stakeholders

  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

  • Experience with other data visualization tools and languages (Tableau, Python, R) is a plus

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Holland America is unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of employment visas at this time (e.g., H-1B status).

  • Base Salary Range: $67,800.00 to $91,500.00. The range is applicable for the labor market where the role is intended to be hired. Final base salary is directly related to each candidates' qualifications and experience uniquely.
