Position Highlights

Biosphere 2 at the University of Arizona (UA) is in search of a Director, Biosphere 2 Remote Sensing (Researcher/Scientist IV). The Director of Remote Sensing position advances the mission of the Biosphere 2 Landscape Evolution Observatory (LEO) research system (and, when appropriate, other B2 biomes) to improve scientific understanding of landscape evolution as an ecosystem process. The duty post for this position is Biosphere 2, Oracle, Arizona. To that end, the director of remote sensing both engages directly with the science (conducting research in the LEO system) and provides co-leadership with the director of LEO to advance the collaborative interdisciplinary LEO scientific program to the next stage by putting ???Plant Life on LEO.??? The focus will be on working with collaborating scientists in other disciplines to bring high quality remote sensing to the study of vegetation communities to the LEO hillslopes. This position requires advanced scientific knowledge and expertise in the field of ecology, remote sensing of vegetated landscapes, appreciation of and engagement with the related scientific disciplines needed to understand landscape evolution, and demonstrated leadership to drive the field forward.

Outstanding UA benefits include health, dental, and vision insurance plans; life insurance and disability programs; paid vacation, sick leave, and holidays; UA/ASU/NAU tuition reduction for the employee and qualified family members; state and optional retirement plans; access to UA recreation and cultural activities; and more!
