Job description: The Legal Department is seeking a highly motivated individual in a role that services its Home Lending Capital Markets and Auto Dealer Commercial Services legal teams. The successful candidate will be a skilled transactional and secured lending attorney with exceptional attention to detail and client-handling capability. They must embrace a leadership role on their matters and seek out opportunities to further service their clients and develop new skills. They must have a demonstrated ability to collaborate with and influence. They must have a sense of humor, an open mind, and a keen intellectual curiosity.



Chase's Legal Team employs a hybrid working model where individuals work three days a week in the office and two days remotely.



Job Responsibilities :


  • Provide comprehensive transactional support for the JPMorgan Chase Home Lending Capital Markets and Auto Finance businesses, including review, negotiation and drafting various agreements for residential mortgage and auto transactions.

  • Advise, in conjunction with troubled credit situations, loan workouts, default letters, and forbearance agreements.

  • Have working knowledge of the regulatory structure of residential mortgage and auto lending and provide legal interpretations of applicable laws, regulations, and guidance, as well as an understanding of private investor, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, Ginnie Mae, HUD, FHA and VA lending and secondary market transactions.

  • Identify and assess various risks, including legal, operational, reputational, and financial impacts and work closely with operational and support partners to mitigate them.

  • As necessary, prepare and update loan documentation and procedures, and provide training and/or job aids and manage outside counsel.

  • Review and advise on proposed new or modified products, businesses, technology, processes, practices and procedures, and identify any legal and regulatory issues.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills :

  • Juris Doctor degree with at least 5 years of relevant consumer and commercial finance transactional legal experience at a law firm and/or in-house legal department at a bank or other financial services institution.

  • Experience in drafting, negotiating and interpreting complex legal documentation.

  • Experience in real estate law and mortgage banking and auto floorplan lending preferred but not required.

  • Attorney must be licensed to practice law and a member in good standing in the jurisdiction where the role will be located prior to commencement of employment or otherwise in compliance with the in-house counsel registration rules of such jurisdiction.

  • Ability to prioritize work, manage a large number of issues at one time, and interact with senior and executive management.

  • Knowledge of the legal and regulatory requirements for consumer and commercial banking businesses is required.

  • All candidates for roles in the Legal department must successfully complete a conflicts of interest clearance review prior to commencement of employment.
