Job Description:

Germanna Community College is a public, open access institution of higher education in the Virginia Community College System. The College is a dynamic learning organization that serves as a Germanna regional leader and preferred partner where quality learning experiences enable students to participate effectively in the social, economic, political, intellectual, and cultural life of their communities. Germanna Community College is centrally located in Fredericksburg, VA between Washington D.C. and Richmond and between the Blue Ridge mountains and the Chesapeake Bay. The Director of Online Programs and Learning Support provides leadership for all aspects of educational technology, including distance/online education and face-to-face environments. This includes, but is not limited to, support of faculty and students to use current and emerging learning and teaching technologies in online programs and courses, video-conferencing courses, hybrid and hyflex courses, and supporting on-ground courses in their use of educational technology. Working closely with the Deans of instruction, the Director of Online Programs and Learning Support is responsible for faculty and student development in the availability of educational technology and effective design and implementation of the practical application of technology for teaching and learning.

Additionally, the Director of Online Programs and Learning Support provides leadership for Library Services, the Center for Teaching and Learning, Instructional Support Services, and online-only programs, including College Everywhere and future Germanna Global initiatives. The Director is responsible for the execution of related areas in the Academic Affairs and Student Services Master Plan.

  • Doctorate in Education, Education Administration, Instructional Technology, Instructional Design or related field from a regionally accredited college or university and supplemented with a minimum of three years of progressively knowledgeable and responsible experience in the development, implementation and management of distance education programs.
Or, a Doctorate from a regionally accredited college or university, in any discipline with a minimum of five years of progressively knowledgeable and responsible experience in the development, implementation and management of distance education programs. * Extensive knowledge of instructional technologies, library management and resources, and learning support theory
  • Demonstrated exceptional communication skills, including ability to converse, present or correspond clearly and effectively in verbal, written or electronic form
  • Ability to work within deadlines and to multi-task with effectiveness
  • Effective management of staff
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in a higher education setting
  • Specific knowledge of contemporary program practices, adult education, and supporting software application is highly desirable
  • Experience in instruction, demonstrating abilities in both in-person and online instruction
  • Demonstrated understanding and commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in online learning and access to online learning

Expected salary: $94594 - 118244 per year
