Weston Distance Learning is currently seeking a Health Information Technology (HIT) and Medical Specialties (MS) Instructor to help train students in the areas of Medical Billing and Coding and other Healthcare Related Programs. This is a part-time work-from-home position with the instructor working from a home office using our online learning platform.



Responsibilities include:



Review and manage the HIT course assignments, including grading and using innovative ways to provide content coaching



Focus on helping HIT program students through tutoring appointments, email and handwritten comments on graded papers



Model effective oral and written communication that engages the Health Information Technology students, providing clarity, and improving student learning.



Demonstrate consistency and fairness in the grading of HIT exams and provide timely feedback to students.



Working with the Curriculum Department in conducting Academic Reviews to ensure content is relevant and current.



Requirements include:



Candidates must possess a minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Health Information Technology, Medical Specialties or a closely related field, and have at least 5 years full-time work experience in the area to be taught is required. Candidate must be currently employed in the field to be taught.



ICD-9 and ICD-10, CPT and HCPCS knowledge and experience.



Certification as a Certified Professional Coder (CPC) and Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), or another similar certification.



Candidates must hold a degree earned from an institution accredited by an agency that is recognized by the United States Secretary of Education and/or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) or, for non-U.S. institutions, an accepted foreign equivalent that is listed in the International Handbook of Universities (18th ed.)



Starting pay is expected to be $25/hour but may vary based on experience.
