Job Summary
The Psychology Department at Oberlin College invites applications for a full-time tenure track faculty position in the College of Arts and Sciences in Cognitive Psychology. Initial appointment to this position will be for a term of three years, beginning fall semester of 2024 and will carry the rank of Assistant Professor.

Founded in 1833, Oberlin is a private four-year, highly selective national liberal arts college near Cleveland, Ohio and is also home to an outstanding Conservatory of Music. Together, the two divisions enroll approximately 2900 students. Oberlin College was the first college in the US to make interracial education and co-education central to its mission. The Psychology Department has a strong tradition of teaching and research excellence. Faculty will be provided with research support. Faculty are eligible for conference travel reimbursement and may apply for supplementary support for teaching and research initiatives. As a 'gateway' STEM field, Psychology is committed to exploring pedagogical techniques that will further support a broad range of students and learning styles. Courses within the department typically enroll 35-45 students at the 100 and 200 level and 10-12 students at upper levels.
Faculty collaboration, support, and mentoring are available to assist faculty in further developing pedagogy that values diversity and fosters inclusion.
Responsibilities
The incumbent will teach the standard teaching load (4.5 courses per year) in the general area of Cognitive Psychology, including a seminar and advanced methods course within the incumbent's specialty. Interest in contributing to Introduction to Psychological Sciences, the Research Method sequence or one of Oberlin's concentrations (e.g., Data Science, Music and Cognition, Global Health) is a plus.

We are especially interested in candidates whose research and teaching are grounded in an appreciation of diversity in human behavior, emotion, and cognition.The incumbent will also be expected to engage in sustained scholarly research and/or other creative work appropriate to the position and participate in the full range of faculty responsibilities, including academic advising and service on committees.
Qualifications
Among the qualifications required for appointment is the Ph.D. degree (in hand or expected by first semester of academic year 2024-2025). Candidates must demonstrate interest and potential excellence in undergraduate teaching. Successful teaching experience at the college level is desirable.
