JOB DESCRIPTION: Under the direction of the Director of Community Engagement and Enrichment and the after school coordinator, serve as the after school arts/ enrichment Instructor for students inTK-8th grade. The arts/ enrichment Instructor is responsible for planning and delivering VAPA aligned arts lessons (Visual arts, Dance,Music, Theatre Arts) during 40-50 minute blocks while maintaining effective classroom management and utilizing best teaching practices. During a typical day, the arts/ enrichment Instructor will teach 3 classes. The after school day starts at 3:00pm and ends at 6:00pm.

Responsibilities include:
  • Create and submit lesson plans in a timely matter
  • Lead and facilitate various art/music/theater/ dance projects
  • Create and ensure a welcoming and safe environment for all students
  • Have student perform or create a visual presentation of student work for the winter and spring arts showcase
  • Reports problems of a serious nature, including recurring behavioral problems and safety hazards to the after school coordinator
  • Clean and organize the classroom space used during the program hours
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of Bachelor?s degree in art/music or related field, or relevant experience
  • At least one year experience working with students gradesTK-8th
  • Ability to adapt to program requirements and needs
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English a plus
WAGE AND BENEFITS: This is an hourly, school year position with a salary range of $35-$45/hr depending on experience; includes a competitive benefits package.
