The UCSF Dyslexia Center ( ) focuses on improving diagnosis, care, and interventions for children and adults with learning challenges. The Center is currently comprised of three research studies each led by different principal investigators across two different departments, Neurology and Psychiatry. Our multidisciplinary research team includes neurologists, psychiatrists, pediatricians, neuropsychologists, and neuroscientists with expertise in neurodevelopment, molecular genetics, neuroimaging, computer science, psychology, and education. We are expanding our center to include a comprehensive learning disorders clinic that will serve people and families of all ages and socioeconomic backgrounds. Our clinic will also be multidisciplinary and offer integrated services such as psychiatry and psychology, speech and language pathology, occupational therapy, developmental medicine, and educational experts. A portion of the clinic will take place in Berkeley, CA.



We are recruiting a full-time lifespan neuropsychologist to provide services in our research setting as well as help develop our new clinic from the ground up. Candidates should have experience in assessing medical, psychiatric, and developmental disorders. This position will involve providing comprehensive neuropsychological assessments within the framework of a multidisciplinary team. Other responsibilities include consultations with families, schools, physicians, and allied healthcare providers. The neuropsychologist will have the opportunity to train and supervise graduate students and participate in the education programs associated with a leading academic and research organization. Leadership opportunities are a possibility. Under general direction, the neuropsychologist will be assigned responsibility for either (1) assisting in the administration of the total UCSF Dyslexia Center clinical program; or (2) planning, organizing, and coordinating the work of a multidisciplinary treatment staff. The neuropsychologist will perform assessment and diagnostic decision-making on a full range of cases without limitation as to difficulty. Incumbents are professionally responsible for the soundness and validity of recommendations and services. The neuropsychologist may participate in the training of lower-level professionals and paraprofessionals.



Services in the research setting include administration and/or supervision of administration of neuropsychological measures, interdisciplinary team consultation regarding neuropsychological test data, family conferencing, and teacher conferencing. Scientific writing is supported but not required.

Please note: The compensation ranges listed online for roles not covered by a bargaining unit agreement are very wide, however a job offer will typically fall in the range of 80% - 120% of the established mid-point. An offer will take into consideration the experience of the final candidate AND the current salary level of individuals working at UCSF in a similar role.



For roles covered by a bargaining unit agreement, there will be specific rules about where a new hire would be placed on the range.

Required Qualifications



  • A doctoral degree in clinical psychology, two years of supervised post-doctoral experience in neuropsychology, and at least one year of licensed clinical work; or an equivalent combination of education and experience; and knowledge and abilities essential to the successful performance of duties assigned to the position.

  • Eligible for board certification in neuropsychology.

  • Demonstrated ability in teaching and clinical supervision

  • Demonstrated interest, commitment, and cultural competence in working with culturally diverse patient populations

  • Interest in and willingness to support clinical research activities

  • Applicant's materials must list (pending) qualifications upon application submission

  • Excellent record of attendance and reliability

  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills

The Memory and Aging Center (MAC) is a clinical research unit within the UCSF Department of Neurology that investigates the clinical (neurological, cognitive, behavioral, neuroanatomic) characteristics of various neurodegenerative diseases. The Primary Investigator's (PI) research within the MAC focuses on the decision-making processes in patients with frontotemporal dementia (FTD), Alzheimer's Disease (AD), primary progressive aphasia (PPA), and other neurodegenerative disorders.
