The Bearcat Promise Career Studio is a team of career development professionals who coach students and recent alumni from 11 academic colleges (College of Allied Health Sciences; College of Arts & Sciences; College-Conservatory of Music; College of Design, Architecture, Art, and Planning; College of Education, Criminal Justice, & Human Services; College of Engineering & Applied Sciences; Graduate College; College of Medicine; College of Nursing; James L. Winkler College of Pharmacy; and UC Online) through the career development process. This includes helping students reflect on their values, skills and interests, connect with experiential learning opportunities to gain hands-on experience, navigate co-op and full-time job searches, explore alt-academic careers, and learn how to attend and finance graduate school.



Job Overview



The Assistant Director of Career Technology & Training is primarily responsibility for overseeing the University of Cincinnati's career services software and for providing ongoing training opportunities. Additionally, the Assistant Director will provide career advice and support to UC students from all majors and degree levels through workshops and presentations on specialized career development topics and through limited one-on-one coaching sessions.



College of Cooperative Education & Professional Studies Team: Bearcat Promise Career Studio- Position reports to: Senior Director of Career Services



CCPS participates in the University's alternative work program; hybrid work schedule is negotiable.



Essential Functions



Career System Management (40%)


  • Become a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in the University's career technology platforms. Current platforms include Handshake (UC's online employment database), VMock, Big Interview, GoinGlobal, Interstride, Career Shift, and Versatile PhD.

  • Serve as the point of contact for faculty, staff, and students about platforms. This includes answering day-to-day questions, creating profiles for stakeholders, and coordinating and communicating the implementation of system updates and enhancements.

  • Serve as the point of contact with technology vendors. Escalate questions, concerns, and recommendations as they arise and engage in annual planning meetings to discuss platform usage and any upcoming changes or enhancements.

  • Lead a committee of University stakeholders in monthly meetings to discuss Handshake.

  • Collect, report, and identify trends related to student utilization of platforms.

  • Develop and implement marketing strategies to increase student utilization of resources.

Training (30%)

  • Collaborate across functions within the organization, seeking input from managers and stakeholders, to ensure alignment of training materials with organizational needs.

  • Design, develop, and implement engaging in-person and virtual trainings for stakeholders (CCPS faculty and staff, Lindner Career Services, Blue Ash Career Services, Clermont Career Services, faculty teaching Career Education courses across the university, and students)

  • Develop and maintain job aids, videos, and activities to support just-in-time learning for team members.

  • Develop and conduct surveys and knowledge checks to ensure transition of knowledge. Gather feedback and adjust as needed.

  • Consult with faculty and staff outside CCPS on strategies to integrate career education platforms into their courses to meet UC's required Career Education learning outcomes with touchpoints in student's first year, mid-collegiate, and capstone/senior year while building capacity.

  • Develop on-demand lesson plans, presentations, and assignments to allow faculty to integrate these resources into courses.

Essential Functions Continued



Specialized Presentations/Career Coaching (20%)

  • Develop and deliver presentations to classes and groups on specialized career development topics, as needed.

  • Provide limited one-on-one career coaching to students across all majors, both at the undergraduate and graduate level, to help students define their career goals, improve their job search readiness, prepare for graduate school, etc.

  • Connect students to resources which support their professional growth (ex. Handshake, LinkedIn, BearcatsConnect, CareerShift, Interstride, GoinGlobal, Big Interview, VMock, VersatilePhD and more).

Other (10%)

  • Serve on College of Cooperative Education & Professional Studies (CCPS) and University committees.

  • Assist with events, including career fairs, Suit Up, etc.

  • Assist in collecting post-graduation outcome information as it relates to employment and continuing education statistics.

  • Additional duties as assigned.

Required Education



Bachelor's Degree



Required Experience



Three (3) years of experience within ed tech, education, project management, career development, or related fields OR Master's degree in lieu of experience.



Additional Qualifications Considered



  • Prior experience using Handshake, LinkedIn, CareerShift, Interstride, GoinGlobal, Big Interview, VMock, VersatilePhD.

  • Strong organization and time management skills.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Strong command of Microsoft PowerPoint and Word and ability to produce high-quality deliverables.
