Join us, as engineering manager on the Packaging Engineering team, and lead packaging development projects and a team of engineers in bringing the next generation of Starbucks packaging solutions to life. As a leader and manager, you will deliver key strategic innovation projects related to global Starbucks packaging, including development of solutions improving sustainability, enhancing customer and partner experience, and supporting new product launches.
As an engineering manager, you will lead and be part of a team that ?
? Leads technical development of packaging solutions across a diverse portfolio of packaging materials and formats from technical exploration through to commercialization
? Creates innovative solutions and delivers detailed designs and technical specifications for Starbucks packaging
? Evaluates performance of packaging solutions against requirements through empirical testing, analysis, statistical modeling, and qualitative feedback from Starbucks partners and customers
? Contributes to development of product requirements alongside cross-functional teams
? Supports the enterprise as packaging subject matter experts and influences the enterprise through data and risk assessments
? Leads technical conversations with suppliers and solution providers
? Ensures key packaging initiatives develop and launch on schedule with excellence
We?d Love To Hear From People With
? BS or higher degree in an engineering field ? Packaging, Mechanical, Chemical, or Materials Science
? 7+ years of experience in a technical role, preferably with packaging product development experience
? Experience in managing end-to-end packaging engineering projects, including scoping, resource allocation, risk assessment, and stakeholder communication, resulting in the successful delivery of projects within scope, on time, and within budget.
? Experience with designing and running packaging performance testing in manufacturing plants, in the lab, and through distribution channels to ensure acceptable packaging performance and product/package quality
? Demonstrated success in leading and fostering a collaborative environment and driving continuous improvement in packaging design, development, and testing processes
? Strong background in collaborating with cross-functional teams, including product development, marketing, procurement, and suppliers, to ensure seamless integration of packaging solutions into product development and supply chain processes
? In-depth knowledge of industry best practices, regulations, and emerging trends in packaging materials, sustainability, and technology, with a proven ability to leverage this knowledge to drive continuous improvement and innovation in packaging strategies
? A high degree of initiative - a strong bias for action
? Ability to effectively deal with and manage change and act without having all the answers
? An abundance of curiosity, both in terms of technical curiosity and the desire to learn from our store partners, customers, and internal stakeholders
? An understanding of retail store operations in the food service industry
? Outstanding ability to communicate ideas and concepts visually, physically, verbally, and in writing to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
? Strong program management abilities
? Ability to engage, influence and lead teams

If you are working in CA, CO, IL, LA, ME, MA, NE, ND or RI, you will accrue vacation up to a maximum of 120 hours (190 in CA) for roles below director and 200 hours (316 in CA) for roles at director or above. For roles in other states, you will be granted vacation time starting at 120 hours annually for roles below director and 200 hours annually for roles director and above.
The actual base pay offered to the successful candidate will be based on multiple factors, including but not limited to job-related knowledge/skills, experience, geographical location, and internal equity. At Starbucks, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at the high end of the range for their role, and compensation decisions are dependent upon the facts and circumstances of each position and candidate.
