Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM Mountain Time
Location: Remote/Work From Home available within Idaho only
Position Overview
As a Coding Specialist, you'll play a crucial role in ensuring accurate medical coding for all patient records. Your responsibilities will include:
Assigning codes for diagnoses and procedures using the appropriate classification systems.
Applying coding principles to accurately assign ICD-10 CM diagnoses and ICD-10 CM/CPT-4 procedures.
Ensuring that codes reflect the full scope of patients' comorbidities and complications.
Abstracting data from medical records and conducting audits to verify coding and grouping accuracy.
Collaborating with the billing department to resolve any coding and billing claim issues.
Requirements
High School diploma or equivalent; Associate's Degree required, Bachelor's degree preferred.
Certification as a Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) or coding certification (CCS or CPC) required.
At least one year of coding experience with ICD-10 and CPT.
Knowledge of Rural Health Clinic (RHC) and Critical Access Hospital (CAH) standards, as well as state medical record requirements, is a plus.
