About the position

The Senior Accounting Manager position is a critical role that reports directly to the Sr Director of Construction, Building Maintenance (BM) and Fuel Ops. This position is responsible for managing a team that provides comprehensive accounting and financial support and analysis across four key groups: Ryder Fuel Services (RFS), Real Estate (RE), Construction, and Building Maintenance (BM). The Accounting Manager will independently engage with external senior management and internal stakeholders, ensuring effective communication and collaboration. This role involves creating, maintaining, and enhancing recurring reporting and analysis responsibilities to support Ryder US FMS and SCS business segments. The Accounting Manager will also be tasked with establishing and clarifying accounting policies in accordance with established processes and GAAP/Company policies, overseeing significant financial operations involving over $1B in Real Estate assets, $100M in annual CAPEX spending, and $20M in yearly revenue, along with managing over 40,000 AP/AR transactions annually. In this role, the Accounting Manager will prepare, analyze, and present the financial results of the segments to senior leadership, partnering with them to develop financial models for new service and product offerings aimed at driving revenue growth. The position requires a proactive approach to managing daily operations of the accounting team, identifying and resolving accounting and business issues as they arise. The Accounting Manager will also be responsible for developing and implementing strategies to streamline day-to-day AP/AR functions across the supported groups. The essential functions of the role include preparing and reviewing variance analysis, managing financial engagement with various stakeholders, leading and mentoring the accounting team, supporting strategic planning through data analysis, and ensuring compliance with GAAP and corporate requirements. The Accounting Manager will also coordinate with internal and external auditors, manage month-end and year-end accounting activities, and participate in ad hoc projects as needed. This position is pivotal in driving financial performance and operational efficiencies across the organization.

Responsibilities
? Manage the daily operations of the accounting team, identifying and solving accounting and business issues as they arise.

? Develop and implement strategies to streamline day-to-day AP/AR functions across the four supported groups.

? Prepare, analyze, and present the segments' financial results to senior management/leadership.

? File quarterly and annual internal and external financial assessments.
,
? Prepare and review variance analysis for both Ryder and external customers on a quarterly/monthly basis.
,
? Manage and facilitate financial/accounting engagement with various stakeholders, including vendors, customers, and suppliers.

? Lead, mentor, and manage the accounting team, ensuring effective training and development in accounting guidance and company policies.

? Support strategic planning by identifying opportunities and risks through data analysis and modeling.

? Provide a variety of reports and presentations, engaging effectively with a variety of stakeholders.

? Facilitate the development of goal-oriented financial performance criteria/tools to ensure financial goals are met across the supported groups.

? Ensure alignment with GAAP and corporate compliance requirements, managing month-end, quarterly, and yearly accounting activities.

? Review and approve balance sheet account reconciliations, providing guidance to segment leadership in resolving items as needed.

? Develop and enhance the accounting/financial framework for the supported groups by implementing effective policies and procedures.

? Coordinate with internal and external auditors to provide necessary information for audit requirements.

? Lead organizational vendor/supplier management compliance requirements and participate in ad hoc projects as needed.

Requirements
? Bachelor's degree in accounting/finance (required).
,
? Master's degree in accounting/finance (preferred).
,
? Five (8) years or more experience in public accounting.
,
? WorkDay experience (preferred).
,
? Advanced proficiency in Excel.
,
? Certified Public Accountant (CPA) (required upon hire).
,
? Strong relationship competencies, including leading teams, building partnerships, and customer focus.

? Detail-oriented with excellent analytical, communication (written and oral), organizational, and research skills.

? Exceptional judgment in using organizational knowledge, trends, and financial data to diagnose business strengths and weaknesses.

? Experience in driving results, innovation, and facilitating change.

? Ability to organize and manage multiple processes and projects.

? Experience interacting and communicating with senior and executive leadership.
