About the position

The Oncology Clinic RN plays a crucial role in providing quality care and customer service within an outpatient setting. This position is designed for a registered nurse who will act as a patient advocate, educator, and care coordinator for oncology patients. The RN will work as part of a multidisciplinary team, collaborating with physicians, advanced practice nurses, and other support staff to ensure that patients receive integrated and comprehensive services tailored to their specific conditions. The role requires a strong commitment to patient care, emphasizing stewardship and quality in all interactions. In this position, the RN will coordinate the efforts of the multidisciplinary team to connect patients with necessary services, track and follow up on patient treatment plans, and assist patients with referrals to outside resources. The RN will serve as the central point of contact for oncology patients, facilitating communication between patients and various healthcare providers. Education is a key component of this role, as the RN will provide information to patients, families, and significant others through both phone and written consultations. The RN will also be responsible for managing chemotherapy dosing according to established guidelines, ensuring that patients receive the correct treatment while maintaining effective communication with infusion and pharmacy staff. Daily tasks will include telephone triage for oncology patients, maintaining clinical competency, and adhering to medication management and clinical procedures. This position requires a proactive approach to patient care, with a focus on promoting effective team functioning and ensuring that all patients receive the highest standard of care throughout their treatment journey.

Responsibilities
? Coordinate the multidisciplinary team approach to connect patients with integrated, comprehensive services specific to their condition.

? Track, order completion and follow up on patient treatment plans.

? Monitor patient compliance with treatment plans and assist with referrals to outside resources.

? Serve as the central point of contact for all oncology navigated patients.

? Provide education to patients, families, and significant others via phone or written consultation.

? Demonstrate efficiency with delegated orders and data entry using oncology EMR.
,
? Provide patient support and phone triage skills for the oncology population.
,
? Follow chemotherapy dosing based on NCCN or other guidelines, coordinating complex chemotherapy regimens with infusion and pharmacy staff.

? Communicate effectively with other members of the healthcare team to promote effective team functioning.
,
? Assist with daily telephone triage for oncology patients.
,
? Maintain clinical competency as it pertains to assigned clinic duties.
,
? Adhere to medication management and clinical procedures.

Requirements
? Associate degree (ASN, ADN or AAS) from an accredited school of nursing.
,
? 1-3 years of experience in the Oncology clinic setting.
,
? Valid RN license in the State of Florida.
,
? BLS certification as issued by the American Heart Association.
,
? Completion of Chemotherapy/Biotherapy Fundamentals of Administration Course through ONS within six months of hire or transfer if not already obtained.

Nice-to-haves
? Bachelor's Degree (BSN) from an accredited school of nursing preferred.

? 1-3 years of experience in the Oncology clinic setting.

? Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) certification through ONCC preferred.
