Responsibilities
? Communicate with workers compensation adjustors and nurse case managers regarding workers compensation benefits.

? Verify insurance eligibility and workers comp benefits for patients scheduled for services.

? Obtain referrals from primary care providers and/or insurance websites as assigned.

? Contact insurance companies via phone, email, or online insurance portals to obtain benefit details.

? Document and update insurance information in the patient account in the Athena system.
,
? Address and resolve any discrepancies related to insurance verification.

? Maintain detailed notes regarding insurance verification activities in the patient Athena account.
,
? Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations regarding patient privacy and insurance verification processes.
Requirements
? High school diploma or equivalent required.

? Minimum of 2 years of experience in a healthcare setting, preferably in insurance verification and workers compensation.

? Familiarity with insurance terms, policies, and procedures.

? Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

? Strong customer service abilities over the phone.

? Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

? Understanding of various insurance plans including Workers Comp, HMO's, PPO's, Medicare, and Medicaid.

? Understanding of Co-pays, Co-insurance, and deductibles.

? Experience with insurance company web portals.
