About the position

OneMain Financial is seeking a talented, experienced, and energetic attorney to join its dynamic legal team as an Associate General Counsel focused on the Consumer Credit Card line of business. This role is pivotal in navigating the increasingly complex legal and regulatory environment surrounding consumer lending, particularly in the context of credit cards. The Associate General Counsel will work closely with cross-functional business partners to provide legal advice and guidance on various aspects of consumer card account marketing, origination, issuance, and servicing. This position offers a unique opportunity to engage with senior leadership and influence key business decisions through strategic legal counsel. The Associate General Counsel will be responsible for overseeing the legal work related to consumer credit cards, including reviewing internal policies and procedures, consumer disclosures, marketing materials, and vendor agreements. The attorney will identify potential risks and provide practical solutions to address these risks while supporting the business's objectives. This role requires a strategic thinker with strong attention to detail, capable of managing multiple tasks in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. The ideal candidate will have the ability to structure and organize both financial and non-financial data to create clear and concise reports that reflect the business's state of affairs. In this role, the attorney will provide day-to-day legal counseling to the Consumer Credit Card line of business and other consumer financial product lines. They will serve as a strategic legal advisor, collaborating with various corporate functions such as Compliance, Marketing, Credit, Technology, Operations, and Risk to identify and manage risks effectively. The attorney will also maintain a strong understanding of current regulations and regulatory trends, providing actionable advice as needed. Additionally, the Associate General Counsel will partner with outside counsel when appropriate and lead various projects as required, ensuring that the legal needs of the business are met efficiently and effectively.

Responsibilities
? Provide day-to-day legal counseling to the Consumer Credit Card line of business and other consumer financial product lines.

? Serve as a strategic legal advisor, working with the business to develop innovative and compliant solutions.

? Establish yourself as a trusted business advisor among internal constituents across diverse functions.

? Collaborate with corporate functions to identify and manage risk.

? Anticipate issues and evaluate risks strategically, providing proactive solutions.

? Provide thought leadership and strategic consultation regarding challenges and opportunities.

? Maintain a strong understanding of current regulations and provide relevant advice.

? Partner with and manage outside counsel when appropriate.

? Lead and deliver other projects as required.

Requirements
? Minimum of 8 years' experience advising clients in the consumer financial services industry on products and legal considerations for consumer credit card programs.

? Juris Doctorate degree.
,
? Admitted to a state bar.
,
? Knowledge of laws and regulations including Card Act (Reg. Z), Truth in Lending (TILA), UDAAP, FCRA/Reg. V, FDCPA, ECOA/Reg. B, CAN-SPAM, TCPA, and state consumer lending laws.

? Familiarity with legal issues in installment lending, consumer protections, and point-of-sale programs.

? Ability to distill complex topics for discussion and counseling with clients at all levels.

? Proven track record of providing effective legal counsel in a dynamic corporate environment.

? Highly motivated with sound judgment and strong interpersonal skills.

? Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
