VP, Director of SBA Closing (Remote)

Position Summary:
The Director of SBA Closing plays a critical role in ensuring the successful and efficient closing of SBA (7a, 504, etc.) and USDA loans for BayFirst. This position is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the SBA closing process, including team management, operational excellence, compliance adherence, and continuous improvement. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership, communication, and analytical skills, with a deep understanding of SBA and USDA lending regulations and best practices.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
? Manage the day-to-day activities of the SBA Closing Department, ensuring timely and accurate loan closings
? Ensure compliance with all applicable Bank, SBA, USDA and regulatory requirements throughout the loan process.
? Develop and implement best practices for loan closing procedures.
? Continuously analyze closing processes and identify areas for improvement in efficiency, accuracy, and customer service
? Ensure that all closing processes involving external attorneys are conducted efficiently, consistently, and in strict compliance with all applicable Bank and SBA requirements.
? Stay current of changes in SBA regulations, industry best practices, and internal policies
? Lead and develop a high-performing team of closing specialists
? Foster a positive and collaborative team environment
? Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs), such as loan closing times, error rates, and customer satisfaction, and implement strategies to improve performance.
? Lead the implementation of process enhancements, including the use of technology and automation to streamline workflows.
? Collaborate effectively with internal departments (e.g., Underwriting, Funding, Servicing, Legal) and external partners (e.g., attorneys, title companies).
? Collaborates with Quality Assurance, Risk Management, and Legal to ensure loans are closed and perfected in compliance with Bank & SBA requirements.
? Work closely with the Construction Loan Administrator to streamline the funding process for construction draws while ensuring compliance with Bank and SBA requirements
? Represent the Closing Department in cross-functional meetings and committees.
? Communicate effectively with all levels of staff, management, and external partners.
? Other duties as assigned
Education and Requirements: ? Bachelor?s degree in related field ? 7+ years of experience in SBA 7(a), 504 and USDA closing/funding, including: ? In-depth knowledge of SBA loan programs (7(a), 504, etc.) and USDA loan programs ? Expertise in loan due diligence, document preparation, review and perfection ? Proven experience managing and leading teams. ? Strong understanding of SBA and USDA regulations, SOPs, and compliance requirements ? Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. ? Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills. ? Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software applications. ? Proficiency in LaserPro loan documentation system, with a focus on SBA loan products and closing requirements. ? Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. ? Demonstrated ability to lead and adapt in a dynamic environment with a strong understanding of change management principles ? Ability to utilize technology to enhance operational efficiency and support business goals.
