About the position

The Business Administration Department at Community College of Philadelphia is seeking part-time Accounting faculty to join its adjunct faculty pool. This position is not online and requires teaching various accounting courses, including Financial and Managerial Accounting. The department is dedicated to meeting the educational needs of students pursuing degrees and certificates in Business and Accounting, with a focus on preparing them for successful careers. Many students from this department transfer to prestigious business schools in the Philadelphia area, while others secure jobs or advance in their current roles. Faculty members play a crucial role in the Academic and Student Success Division, contributing to student success through innovative practices and quality learning experiences. In this role, faculty will facilitate student learning, provide effective instruction, and evaluate student performance in accordance with established course outlines. Responsibilities include developing course materials, collaborating with colleagues on curriculum development, maintaining communication with students, and adhering to grading and record-keeping regulations. Faculty are expected to stay current with technological advancements that enhance student learning and actively participate in the academic community of the College. Faculty will also engage in continual assessment and updates to ensure excellence in meeting program and student learning outcomes, striving for best practices in teaching and modeling behaviors that encourage student success and retention.

Responsibilities
? Teach various accounting courses, including Financial and Managerial Accounting.

? Facilitate student learning and provide effective instruction for all assigned classes.
,
? Perform evaluations of student learning using each course's standard course outline as a guide.
,
? Develop course handouts, lectures, hands-on activities, and presentations.
,
? Collaborate with other faculty and administrators in developing program curriculum, standards, and policies.
,
? Be available to students via email, phone, or personal conferences, clearly communicating availability.
,
? Assign grades and maintain course/student records in accordance with FERPA regulations.
,
? Meet all classes at the designated times and submit grades and records by established deadlines.
,
? Receive training or stay current in technological or pedagogical advances that promote student learning.
,
? Demonstrate a commitment to the College's mission, vision, and values.
,
? Actively participate in the academic life of the College and foster collaboration among colleagues.
,
? Establish an inclusive environment in the classroom, sensitive to diverse backgrounds.
,
? Participate in continual assessment and course updates to ensure excellence in meeting program and student learning outcomes.

? Strive for excellence in teaching and utilize innovative teaching strategies and technologies.

? Maintain office hours to meet with students outside of the classroom and respond to inquiries.

? Commit to professional learning and growth, student mentoring, and service to the profession.

Requirements
? Master's Degree in Accounting or Taxation, or an MBA with an active CPA, CMA, CIA, CFA, or CGMA certification.

? Verifiable work experience in the field of Accounting.

? Knowledge of current technological applications in Accounting courses.
,
? Ability to teach a variety of day, evening, and weekend Accounting courses.
,
? Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

Nice-to-haves
? At least two years of recent college teaching experience in Accounting, preferably at the community college level.

? Active participation in industry-related professional development activities.

? Knowledge and/or willingness to develop and teach online and web-enhanced courses.

? Prior experience using Canvas Learning Management System.

? Willingness to revise and maintain courses and curriculum.

? Commitment to participating in the intellectual life of the department and the College.

? Active participation in national and/or regional industry professional organizations.
