The role of Director, Finance Change - Data Strategy and Management is pivotal in supporting SMBC Americas' business growth strategy. This position is part of a major initiative aimed at reviewing and enhancing critical finance processes within the US operations, focusing on financial planning, reporting, and data management. The Finance Change team is responsible for establishing and managing large-scale programs that implement processes, methodologies, and systems to meet regulatory requirements and industry best practices. The Data Strategy team within Finance Change is tasked with developing and executing a long-term vision for Data Management capabilities across all finance functions, including Treasury, FP&A, and Controllers. The Vice President in this role will rigorously execute and manage a portfolio of prioritized finance data strategy and data management initiatives as a lead Business Analyst. This involves close collaboration with senior stakeholders across Finance, Risk, Technology, and the Chief Data Office, as well as guiding junior staff in their development. The position requires hands-on involvement in data discovery, including identifying, gathering, and managing financial and accounting data within subledgers and systems of record. The Director will develop business requirements documentation (BRDs) to guide source system IT in addressing priority issues, analyze processes and controls to propose enhancements, and lead business fit for purpose and consumption analysis for accuracy and completeness. Additionally, the role involves identifying data gaps from a finance perspective, collaborating with technology and other stakeholders to identify solutions, and troubleshooting complex business data issues as needed. The Director will engage Finance SMEs, Chief Data Office, IT, and other stakeholders to deploy target state data controls and governance frameworks, fostering strong relationships and emphasizing collaboration and flexibility.
Responsibilities
? Hands on involvement in data discovery including identifying, gathering, and managing financial and accounting data within subledgers/systems of record.

? Developing business requirements documentation (BRDs) to guide source system IT in addressing priority issues.

? Analyzing processes and controls to propose enhancements in line with SMBC's strategic data strategy vision.

? Leading the business fit for purpose and consumption analysis for accuracy and completeness, including spearheading end user testing with Finance teams.

? Identifying data gaps from finance perspective and collaborating with technology and other key stakeholders to identify solutions (both interim and strategic).

? Troubleshooting and solving complex business data issues with various stakeholders as needed (Finance, Risk, Group Company IT, etc.).

? Engaging Finance SMEs, Chief Data Office, IT, and other stakeholders to deploy target state data controls and data governance frameworks.

? Leading all phases on finance data management and governance cycle, including identification of data elements and critical data elements.

? Supporting other finance transformation programs under the Finance Change team inclusive of stakeholder assessment, impact analysis, and the development and execution of key strategies and plans.
Requirements
? Minimum of 6-9 years' experience in technology, data office, data management, change management, finance team at a financial services firm, or related experience as a Lead Business Analyst.

? Experience working as a lead business analyst preferred with knowledge of financial operations and planning, risk and controls management, IT processes, and data management.

? Experience with data projects involving concepts and processes related to data management, such as critical data elements, data architecture, data models, data lineage, data quality, data dictionary etc.

? Comfortable working with ambiguity and skillset to understand and define the 'problem statement'; ability to think strategically and execute tactically, be solutions focused, and solve problems.

? Ability to prioritize efforts across multiple projects and manage competing deadlines with stakeholders.

? Ability to work independently in ambiguous environments that are not clearly defined.

? Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills commensurate with production and presentation of management-ready materials.
