About the position

The Medical Staff Specialist I position at The Greeley Company, a part of Chartis, is a vital role that supports the medical staff services functions within healthcare organizations. This position is primarily responsible for performing credentialing and privileging activities, ensuring compliance with various standards and regulations, including those set by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and internal hospital requirements. The Specialist will report directly to the Director of Medical Staff Services and will engage in a variety of tasks that contribute to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the medical staff services department. In this role, the Medical Staff Specialist I will assist with the management of practitioner applications, including verification activities and preliminary analysis of application information. This involves flagging potentially adverse information for review by medical staff leadership and monitoring the expiration of critical credentials such as DEA licenses and professional liability insurance. The Specialist will also maintain and update credential files, ensuring that all data entry is accurate and compliant with established procedures. Additionally, the Specialist will support meeting management by preparing agendas, attending meetings, and ensuring that minutes accurately reflect the actions taken. This role also includes assisting in the maintenance of medical staff policies and procedures, as well as performing miscellaneous tasks that support the operations of the Medical Staff Services Department. The position is primarily onsite in Pasadena, CA, with the possibility of 1-2 days of remote work per week.

Responsibilities
? Practitioner credentialing, privileging, and performance evaluation

? Support competency management functions such as proctoring and performance evaluations

? Ensure accurate data entry of required source verification data elements

? Communicate issues and ongoing status of assigned work to Director/Manager

? Prepare meeting agendas in cooperation with the Chair and/or designee
,
? Attend and participate in meetings; coordinate follow-up tasks
,
? Assure that meeting minutes accurately reflect actions taken
,
? Assist in the maintenance and protection of medical staff policies and procedures
,
? Maintain a working knowledge of all computer applications needed for the position
,
? Perform miscellaneous tasks such as reception, filing, and correspondence

Requirements
? High school diploma or equivalent required
,
? 1-3 years' experience in credentialing and privileging within an acute healthcare setting preferred
,
? Proficiency in Microsoft Office
