Pre-Licensed Veterinary Technician - Imaging

Are you passionate about animal care and eager to take the next step toward becoming a Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT)? This is an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on clinical experience while completing your online Veterinary Technology program through SUNY Delhi. As a pre-licensed technician, you’ll work alongside experienced veterinarians and LVTs, developing the skills and confidence needed to succeed in the field. This role is perfect for motivated students looking to combine real-world learning with their academic training in a supportive, growth-focused environment. The job responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Learning to position and acquire diagnostic radiographs for horses, cattle, sheep, goats, pigs, and other large animals in various hospital locations Developing skills in stall-side radiography for patients unable to be transported or requiring immediate diagnostic imaging Assisting with radiographic procedures in the operating room during surgical cases Practicing proper technique, positioning, and image quality assessment for accurate diagnostic interpretation Progressing from assisting to independently performing procedures as competency increases Employees working in the hospital must receive the pre-exposure rabies prophylaxis vaccination series prior to or immediately after hire, which will be paid for by the department. Required Qualifications High school diploma with six months of basic animal handling experience. Accepted, enrolled, and in good academic standing in the SUNY-Delhi Online associate’s degree in veterinary technology. Must successfully obtain Veterinary Technology degree within three years with consistent enrollment. Must Understand and successfully work within the boundaries provided by the LVT team while asking clarifying questions when necessary. Ability to receive and apply constructive feedback. Understand common vaccination protocols, basic lab tests, common diseases, veterinary terminology, and patient behavior. Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, demanding environment Able to meet the physical demands of the position, which includes prolonged standing and kneeling, and lifting and restraining animals that may exceed 50 pounds. Important Details about the Position This is an onsite position located in Ithaca, NY. We are unable to provide Visa sponsorship, now or in the future, for this position. Relocation assistance will not be provided for this position. Weekly schedules may include alternative shifts, weekends, holidays and other coverage as CUHA provides 24-hour care for patients 365 days of the year. Individuals in this role will consistently be under the supervision of an experienced Licensed Veterinary Technician and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine.
