Job description: The Department of Communication Studies at the University of Denver seeks to hire a half-time Visiting Teaching Assistant Professor for the 2023-2024 academic year. This position may be extended beyond 2023-2024 contingent on need, funding, and performance.

The person hired for this position will teach four courses over three quarters. Primary responsibilities during 2023-2024 will include teaching undergraduate general education and communication studies major courses. Ability to teach the introductory Practicing Communication and Theorizing Communication courses is preferred.

Students in the Department of Communication Studies can pursue a B.A. or a minor in communication studies. Our courses cover the breadth of the communication discipline, including family, interpersonal, cultural, rhetorical, organizational, political, and health contexts. Required Qualifications:
  • MA in Communication Studies or related discipline
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Ph.D. preferred in Communication Studies
  • Excellent university level teaching experience in communication studies
Working Environment

Standard office environment.
Noise level is quiet to moderate.

Physical Activities

Ability to sit in front of a computer for an extended period.
Occasionally required to move about the office/campus with the capability of transporting objects up to 20 lbs. with assistance.

Work Schedule
While the University's administrative offices are open Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm, faculty schedules vary from term to term and are based on courses taught, service commitments, and research agendas. Salary Range:
The salary rate for this position is $25,000
