Job description: The Tutor Coordinator is responsible for developing and implementing supportive/remedial instructional services in their assigned discipline/area of responsibility. The Tutor Coordinator will provide assistance that will help students overcome difficulties encountered in their efforts to achieve a post-secondary education. Grant-funded position based on the availability of grant funds.
Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities
Develop and/or provide supplemental instruction in the respective discipline(s).
Supervise peer tutors, administer assigned tutor budgets, and set tutoring schedules.
Provide Professional Tutoring in the respective discipline.
Provide in-class orientations and presentations that promote student usage of instructional support services.
Work in support of and/or with other institutional departments to help students with course selection/enrollment, transfer assistance and financial aid applications.
Identify and select students eligible for participation in the Student Support Services project.
Monitor, identify, and assess students who have educational deficiencies.
Monitor peer-tutor progress reports.
Maintain the required documentation of services including student participation and progress.
Refer students to other institutional departments and offices for assistance as necessary.
Coordinate support services with other institutional departments.
Assist with the compilation of data to meet with the reporting and submission requirements.
Interview, recommend for hire, and train tutors in the respective discipline(s).
Perform additional duties assigned by the Student Support Services Director.
Qualifications/Certifications/Licenses/Skills

Required:
- Bachelor's degree with related coursework.
- Suitable work experience in the student support services area, or at the college/university or secondary school level.
- Degree in reading, English, mathematics, education, or business.
The Tutor Coordinator should be competent in the subject matter of the respective discipline, be familiar with admission, financial aid, and post-secondary educational processes to provide the necessary guidance and advisement to students and maintain the competencies to assess student performance and interpret needed remediation for the student.
The Tutor Coordinator must be able to communicate effectively with and be sensitive to the educational needs of first-generational low-income disadvantaged students as well as maintain open lines of communication among faculty, students, and staff.
Knowledge and ability to use microcomputers, MS Office applications, and subject area/discipline instructional software are necessary.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit.

Expected salary: $42181 - 50820 per year
