LOCATION: Fitzgerald High School
WORK YEAR: 2023-2024 School Year
SALARY: Per FEA Contract

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate required
• Special Education Endorsement in SM, SE, SA or SV preferred
• Eligible for or have Michigan Teacher Consultant approval required
• Master?s Degree in related field required
• 3 years teaching experience; 3 years in Special Education required
• Experience working with diverse student populations
• Highly Effective Evaluation preferred
• Experience in a Leadership Role preferred
• Evidence of Exceptional Organization Skills required

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Conduct career assessment and counseling and assist in career exploration activities
• Assist in work/job preparation training which may include job shadowing, onsite work training, work/study placement development
• Provide direct instruction to students with disabilities that is designed to meet their individual transition needs.
• Develop curriculum, design and implement lesson plans, and assess student progress.
• Disseminates information to staff, students, and parents regarding student needs, progress, and resources.
• Coordinates transition activities for college, career, and community readiness
• Manages IEPs for assigned caseload; coordinates and facilitates IEP meetings, writes IEPs, and communicates with general education teachers and support staff.
• Facilitates referral, applications, eligibility process for student and families to adult service providers.
• Assists with alignment of transition continuum of services at the secondary level.
• Maintain and grow strong public relations with community partners
• Monitor and provide professional development to staff on the MDEs B13 compliance
• Participate in professional development and implement best practice.
• Other duties as assigned.
