37.5 hours/week

SALARY: Anticipated starting salary is $59,244.00 - $64,111.00. Actual salary will be commensurate with education and experience in accordance with the MCCC/MTA collective bargaining agreement. GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:

Under the general direction of the Director of Academic Success, this position will be responsible for the creation and administration of the Peer Academic Coaching Program and Peer Mentorship Programs. This strategy-based academic support is available to all students who might benefit from individualized academic coaching in the areas of study strategies including note taking, time management, organization, and test preparation. The Coordinator will be responsible for developing and implementing the vision of the program including hiring, training, developing, and supervising a team of Peer Academic Coaches and Peer Mentors. This position will also be responsible for organizing and analyzing data to understand program effectiveness and areas for improvement, and works closely with the Director of Academic Success and other leaders within the Student and Academic Success division to continually improve the quality and impact of our efforts.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: * Support the strategic and long-range vision and planning for academic success and support services (tutoring, academic coaching, mentorship programs, etc.) under direction of the Director of Academic Success.
  • Oversee the day to day operations of peer mentoring and peer academic coaching and coordinate remote, online and on campus academic support services (including, but not limited to, study skills support, conversation hours for multilingual learners, study slams/review sessions, academic workshops, etc.).
  • Works collaboratively with the Tutor Coordinator to manage and supervise multiple academic success locations (Lynn, Danvers, and remote), programs, and student staff, including related budgets (as appropriate).
  • Provide academic coaching and mentorship programs to help students set realistic goals, develop academic plans, and to improve study and classroom habits.
  • Assist/support in the creation of a Peer Mentorship program and academic coaching.
  • Assist/support in the creation of the College's CRLA International Peer Educator Training Program Certification (IPTPC).
  • Prepare informational materials and marketing strategies to promote academic success services to students and faculty.
  • Manage the hiring, training, scheduling, and evaluation of peer mentors and peer academic coaches as required.
  • Provide training and regular professional development for peer mentors and peer academic coaches.
  • Implement procedures and processes to ensure quality support services for both on-site and remote learners.
  • Provide workshops and develop/distribute materials to support student success.
  • At the direction of the Director of Academic Success, collaborate with the RISE program, Career Services, Onboarding/Orientation, and other departments to support retention initiatives.
  • Collaborate with divisional Academic Deans to promote tutoring and academic support services effectiveness for various classes, especially DFW courses.
  • Prepare and submit reports as required.
  • Participate in staff meetings, college committees, and college programs (Orientation, Convocation, etc.) as assigned.
  • Other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Reports to the Director of Academic Success

SUPERVISION GIVEN: Directly supervises peer mentors and per academic coaches.

Requirements:
  • Master's degree in Education, English or other relevant field.
  • 2-5 years of progressive experience directing, supervising, and managing programs for students with various learning profiles in a collegiate setting.
  • Previous Tutoring/Learning Center/Learning Commons management experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, oral and written, with individuals and before groups, with particular emphasis on interactions with faculty, staff, students, and community members.
  • Must be able to build relationships across campus with faculty, staff, and students and foster positive collaborative community partnerships.
  • Established ability to work with and advocate for traditionally underserved students and to support faculty and staff in meeting these needs with a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • A commitment to quality student-centered service and student success.
  • Knowledge of CRLA certification processes, regulations, and peer coach training is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft products, Banner software and Navigate experience are a plus.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
  • Candidates will be required to pass a CORI/SORI and/or National background check as a condition of employment.
