Identity Engineering squads build and run high-traffic and globally replicated systems which form an integral and visible part of every user's journey at Disney properties.<br /> <br /> The Security Services squad are in charge of making sure consumer-facing application programming interfaces (APIs) are kept secure by making real-time decisions to block malicious traffic using various mechanisms including but not limited to: traffic shaping and completely automated public turing tests to tell computers and humans apart (CAPTCHA) challenges.<br /> <br /> As a Software Engineer within the Identity Security organization, you will play a pivotal role in the development, maintenance, and optimization of our security data infrastructure and pipelines. The engineer will be responsible for writing and reviewing code, presenting on technical decisions, and collaborating with engineers in your squad.<br /> <br /> We the engineers will be empowered to pitch in on technical and architectural decisions, and to influence the roadmap for your squad, working in partnership with your local leader, your squad, and your peers across Product, Project Management and Engineering.<br /> <br /> You will be a member of an engaging, dynamic and inclusive engineering organization, grounded in scrum and agile practices, CI/CD, partnership, functional programming and motivated by a dedication to continuous learning and improvement.<br /> <br /> Key Responsibilities:<br /> <br /> Data Integration:<br /> • Collaborate with senior data engineers to design, develop, and maintain data integration processes to collect and ingest data from various sources.<br /> • Implement data pipelines for security detection to ensure the smooth flow of data from source to destination.<br /> <br /> Data Transformation:<br /> • Participate in data cleansing, validation, and transformation activities to ensure data quality and consistency.<br /> • Write and maintain ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes.<br /> <br /> Database Management:<br /> • Assist in the management and optimization of databases, including SQL and NoSQL databases.<br /> • Help maintain database schemas and configurations.<br /> <br /> Data Monitoring and Troubleshooting:<br /> • Supervise security data pipelines for errors and issues and assist in solving and resolving problems.<br /> • Assist with the development of alerting and monitoring systems.<br /> • Analyze the security incident and provide the solution.<br /> • Tune the performance of data pipelines to save the time and cost.<br /> • Tune the threshold of different pipelines to improve the security of product.<br /> <br /> Documentation:<br /> • Build and maintain technical documentation, including data pipeline documentation and data dictionaries.<br /> • Document code changes, processes, and business methodologies.<br /> <br /> Collaboration:<br /> • Work closely with multi-functional teams, including data analysts, data scientists, and other engineers.<br /> • Collaborate on data integration and transformation requirements.<br /> <br /> Learning and Growth:<br /> • Stay up to date with data engineering technologies, and emerging trends.<br /> • Participate in training and mentorship programs to improve your skills.<br /> <br /> Qualifications:<br /> • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Software Engineering, Data Science, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).<br /> • Minimum 3 years of related experience<br /> • Basic experience with programming languages like Java, Scala, or Python<br /> • Experience with data engineering concepts and technologies like Spark or Flink<br /> • Familiarity with ETL and Data Pipeline, Databricks<br /> • Understanding of data storage and database management (e.g., HDFS, S3, Redis, SQL and NoSQL databases).<br /> • Knowledge of distributed system development and middleware such as Kafka, Kinesis,<br /> • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.<br /> • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.<br /> • A strong desire to learn and grow in the field of data engineering.<br /> • Experience with Identity Security.<br /> <br /> The hiring range for this position in New York is $117,998 to $158,290 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.
