The role:
We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Revenue Cycle Analyst to work in our Primary Care and Outpatient Department Workstream. The Revenue Cycle Analyst will play a vital role in optimizing revenue generation, ensuring accurate and timely billing and maximizing reimbursement for services provided in our healthcare facility. The successful candidate will possess a deep understanding of healthcare billing and revenue cycle processes, as well as excellent analytical and communication skills.
Your Responsibilities:
- Analyze and review patient accounts and billing information to ensure accurate coding, charge capture and documentation for services provided in the Primary Care and Outpatient Department Workstream.
- Identify and rectify any coding or billing discrepancies, working closely with medical coders, clinical staff, and billing personnel to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and payer guidelines.
- Conduct regular audits of patient accounts, claims, and documentation to ensure compliance with billing and coding standards and guidelines.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including medical billing, coding, clinical staff, and finance, to streamline revenue cycle processes and resolve any billing-related issues promptly.
- Monitor and track claim denials, rejections, and underpayments, identifying trends and patterns to develop strategies for reducing these issues and improving revenue recovery.
- Assist in the preparation of reports and analysis related to revenue cycle performance, providing insights and recommendations to management for process improvement and optimization.
- Stay updated with changes in healthcare regulations, coding guidelines, and payer policies to ensure accurate and compliant billing practices.
- Participate in training sessions and workshops to educate clinical and administrative staff on revenue cycle best practices, coding updates, and documentation requirements.
- Collaborate with IT teams to optimize the utilization of revenue cycle management software and tools, ensuring accurate data capture and reporting.
- Provide support during audits and compliance reviews, ensuring the accuracy and completeness of documentation and billing records.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of revenue cycle improvement initiatives, focusing on enhancing efficiency, accuracy, and reimbursement rates.
Position Requirements:
- Ideally a Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Management, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field. Relevant certifications (e.g., Certified Professional Coder - CPC, Certified Revenue Cycle Representative - CRCR) are a plus.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in healthcare revenue cycle management, preferably in a primary care and outpatient setting.
- Proficiency in medical coding systems (e.g., CPT, ICD-10), billing software and electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Strong understanding of healthcare reimbursement methodologies, billing regulations and compliance requirements.
- Exceptional analytical skills with the ability to interpret data, identify trends and provide actionable insights for process improvement.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to collaborate effectively across various departments and roles.
- Detail-oriented approach to reviewing and auditing billing documentation and patient accounts.
- Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to independently resolve billing discrepancies and denials.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and familiarity with revenue cycle management software.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
