Position Summary:
Ascension is looking for an experienced SEO content writer with a background in clinical and medical writing to help lead our online / digital content and search engine optimization (SEO) strategy team. The ideal candidate has a fluency in the Google algorithm, particularly in the healthcare and medical content space, for the purpose of marketing performance, service line and provider promotion and healthcare growth.

Key Responsibilities:
- Search Marketing Strategy: Established subject matter expert and fluency in Google algorithm and impact of changes on healthcare business objectives as well as competitive advantage for the purpose of effective search engine optimization (SEO) strategy for consumer engagement, patient education and provider relations.
- SEO Expertise: Current and fluent intelligence and insights on Google search and content optimization strategies, including understanding of the appropriate and optimal use of AI for content development within the Google algorithm.
- Medical SEO Writing: Proven expertise in creating SEO content / copy for clinical programs, clinician promotion and/or medical website that is highly optimized for search engine performance, including high ranking keywords for high search engine results, balanced with health literacy standards and maintenance of overall highest quality in written communication.
- Content Development: Experience researching and sourcing differentiating and competitive medical and health science content, preferably for large and complex healthcare organizations. Experience developing patient education content as well as lead generation content for persuasive engagement. Writing, editing and publishing SEO content pieces - and consideration for cross-channel publishing.
- Patient Engagement: Experience in patient journey-based engagement and SEO as part of a multi-touch attribution strategy that includes personalized email engagement and behavior change.
- Online Content Hygiene: Leading and supporting ongoing auditing, updating and enhancing of online content for the most current, most optimized content for consumers, patients and referring providers across all pediatric and adult service lines from cardiovascular to neuroscience.
- Search Performance: Support and manage analytics of organic Google search results against business performance goals - as well as against broader search optimization strategy and search engine marketing (SEM) strategies, working with SEM team members for strong SEO / SEM balance.
- Marketing Collaboration: Collaborates regularly with the Studio, Technologies and Consumer Experience to coordinate activation and management across platforms as well as offline operations.
Requirements Education:
- High School diploma equivalency with 3 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree/Bachelor's degree with 2 years of cumulative experience OR 7 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required. 3 years of leadership or management experience preferred.
Additional Preferences Qualifications:
- Educational Background: A bachelor's degree in Marketing, Journalism, Communications, Medical Writing / Health Literacy or a related field or experience equivalent is preferred. An MBA, MS or other advanced degree in a relevant field is a plus.
- Strategic Leadership: A minimum of 5-8 years of progressive experience in online content, digital marketing and/or SEO specfically.
- Previous experience in a DTC brand, healthcare, or financial services industry is a significant advantage.
- Analytics Acumen: Experience with various top-industry SEO tools. Data and analytics experience particularly focused on SEO performance and applying performance through timely and effective ongoing optimization. Obsessive attention to detail and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, managing thousands of data points and developing clear reporting.
- Project Management: Exceptional attention to detail and project management skills. Strong understanding and upkeep of SEO best practices ongoing.
- Team Management: Strong leadership skills with a track record of managing and mentoring teams in optimized content development. Experience overseeing cross-functional teams and collaborating effectively with stakeholders across various levels of the organization.
- Strategic Thinking: Exceptional strategic thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to develop and execute comprehensive strategic plans that align with organizational goals.
- Communication Skills: Excellent communication and presentation skills, as well as professional demeanor, with the ability to articulate complex ideas and strategies to both internal and external stakeholders, including physicians and clinical leaders.
- Adaptability: Flexibility and adaptability to thrive in a dynamic and rapidly changing healthcare landscape.
