The University of Maine at Augusta is seeking applicants for the full-time position of Clinical Mental Health Counselor to join their UMA Counseling team. This is a 2-year, fixed-length appointment. In this position, you will provide direct services to students through short-term clinical counseling, crisis intervention, and referrals. In collaboration with other UMA student support staff, you will also serve as a consultant to various UMA constituents, including employees in the UMA housing department and UMA Centers, to support students' emotional and behavioral well-being. Salary: The hiring salary range for this position is $47,000 to $50,000, and is commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM, evenings and weekends as necessary

Qualifications:

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Demonstrated organizational and project management skills
  • Excellent, oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Demonstrated capacity to work independently and as part of a team
  • Computer competency and record-keeping proficiency
  • Familiarity with distance education techniques and/or adaptive technologies
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
Required Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in counseling, social work, or related discipline
  • Ability to work weekend and evening hours as necessary
  • Ability to participate in staff rotation of weekend/after-hours phone consultation for the UMA After Hours support line
  • Ability to travel to any UMA location
Licenses/Certification:
  • Clinical counseling license eligible
Desired Qualifications:
  • Experience working with college students, especially students who are first-generation, low-income, and/or individuals with disabilities
  • Experience with adult learners
  • Experience delivering services for individuals with disabilities, tutoring, advising, or other student support services
