OVERALL RESPONSIBILITY A senior technical leader on the Networking and Data Center Operations team, which operates Broad?s internal data communication systems, infrastructure and data centers. Responsible as a leader in the planning, design, implementation and maintenance of existing and new network architectures in support of business requirements. An active partner with BITS Leadership in the development of IT strategies and best practices in alignment with industry trends and business needs. Broad?s networking environment is a multi-vendor and hybrid-cloud system that is constantly evolving to meet our Scientists? and fellow administrators' needs. A good candidate will provide both great depth and breadth of experience. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Leads and manages large project activities, including translating what may be vague goals into work definitions, identifying appropriate resources necessary to achieve needed outcomes and driving success across departments and organizations Applies technical expertise and interpersonal influence to negotiate architecture design and product decisions, grounded in support of and alignment with high-level business goals and conditions Leads a total design, specification, release and support for key infrastructure changes Responsible for directing, supporting, and/or executing the implementation of large, complex network changes Assesses project risks and identifies problems and feasible solutions Understands, prepares and presents material for product review processes both w Provides technical expertise and guidance within the team, improving protocols and procedures with teammates, and mentoring other team members Collaborates with other IT technical staff and leadership to influence IT policies and procedures Provide direct, ongoing engagement with the end-user community, as well as providing the highest level of ticket escalation on technical issues Key leader in the implementation of new network infrastructure products, creating protocols and test plans, and integration across technical areas Generates detailed technical documentation, for external users and both technical and non-technical team members Collorates with and holds accountable our industry partners to initiate and complete service engagements Share on-call support for nights and weekends with other members of the IT/Systems Department, as needed Other duties as required MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 12+ years experience in the design and operation of complex IT Network systems in a production environment, both on prem and public cloud based Mastery of IT Networking core concepts, knowledge equivalent to CCNP or greater Extensive experience with many network vendors including Cisco, Juniper, Arista, Palo Alto, and Brocade/Extreme Deep understanding of the network operating systems and protocols Firm understanding of information security principles and their practical application to IT Networking Interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with cross functional teams including both technical and non-technical personnel and ability to garner support from others Expert in scripting and programing to automate IT Networking configuration Comprehensive and accurate documentation practices Bachelor?s or advanced degree in Computer Networking and/or related technical certifications and/or equivalent experience Prior experience working in an Agile environment Alignment with BITS values of being mission-driven, fostering trust, inclusion, teamwork, continuous improvement, and like to have fun PREFERRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCES Certifications or proven knowledge of ITIL, Agile (scrum), and/or Project Management Extensive experience with Ansible and Terraform Total comfort working with version control systems, specifically Git/GitHub Demonstrated record of success in technical leadership of similar organizations Prior on-call support and ability to work independently during off-hours All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability or protected veteran status.
