About the position

The Michigan Department of Education (MDE) is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable individual to join our team as a Special Education Data Quality Consultant. This position plays a crucial role in ensuring the integrity and quality of data related to special education programs across the state. The consultant will work closely with various stakeholders, including school districts, educators, and policy-makers, to analyze and improve data collection processes, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations. The consultant will also be responsible for developing and implementing training programs for educators and administrators to enhance their understanding of data quality standards and practices. In this role, the consultant will engage in comprehensive data analysis to identify trends, discrepancies, and areas for improvement within special education data systems. The consultant will collaborate with the Office of Special Education (OSE) to ensure that all data reporting aligns with the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and Michigan Administrative Rules for Special Education (MARSE). This position requires a strong commitment to improving educational outcomes for students with disabilities and ensuring that they receive a free appropriate public education (FAPE) in the least restrictive environment (LRE). The consultant will also participate in the development of state summative assessments and accountability systems, contributing to the overall mission of MDE to enhance public education in Michigan. Requirements
