AS400 Developer (Part-time Job)
Posted 2025-03-14This position will perform development, analysis, and maintenance. This person will be part of team that develops and supports AS400 applications. They will be responsible for developing solutions that interact with proprietary/in-house systems, and provide recommendation that will allow AS400 applications to interact with other platforms. This candidate must be motivated and a self-starter who is able to work independently as well as within a team.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
? Perform hands-on analysis and programming activities on the AS/400 using CL, DDS, RPG III, RPG IV and ILE
? Balance multiple projects with routine maintenance responsibilities
? Effectively communicate status and issues as needed
? Perform on-call support as needed
? Analyze business requests and help create effective technology solutions
? Interest in cross-training on other applications and technologies outside of the AS/400, including reporting tools, databases, web-facing technologies, and other related systems
? Complete project documentation in accordance with standard SDLC
? Provide input on establishing and improving our development and production environment and processes
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES
? A minimum of 5-years of experience programming on the AS/400 in an RPG III, RPG IV and ILE application development role, open to less experience
? Experience with Free Form RPG, SQL and Web Interfacing tools helpful
? Experience with EDI applications helpful
? Strong verbal and written communication skills
? The ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with other IT personnel and business users
? Must be able to work effectively within a dynamic environment
? Must be able to multi-task and meet deadlines
? General understanding of database theory and ability to write basic queries
? Ability to quickly and accurately perform troubleshooting and repair of applications
? Ability to work independently or as part of a team
