About the position

At Selective, we don't just insure uniquely; we employ uniqueness. As a Senior Auto Physical Damage Claim Representative, you will play a crucial role in our mission to serve our customers responsibly. This position involves investigating, negotiating, and concluding auto claims through various means such as telephone, personal contact, and written correspondence. You will be responsible for handling claims in accordance with company policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with applicable legal and regulatory requirements. Your expertise will be essential in specialties such as General Liability, Auto fire and theft, Auto total loss, Auto commercial and personal lines liability, and Auto/PIP subrogation. In this role, you will receive assigned auto claims and independently review and analyze policy forms and endorsements to determine applicable coverages, limits, deductibles, and settlement calculations. You will gather appropriate documentation to support claimed damages, which may include estimates, proof of ownership/value, required company forms, reports, and invoices. Your negotiation skills will be put to the test as you negotiate settlements based on the documentation presented, vendor discussions, personal knowledge, customer interactions, and policy language. You will also be responsible for documenting claim files, establishing and updating reserves throughout the life of the claim, maintaining suspense systems, processing expenses, preparing checks, and sending appropriate letters based on state regulations and company directives. Additionally, you will explore salvage and subrogation potential, as well as arbitration opportunities, while continuously reviewing and analyzing investigative information to determine if a file is eligible for fraud/SIU handling. Collaboration with vendors and other resources will be necessary to assist with remediation services or future analysis of auto damage or settlement values. You will ensure that all claims are reviewed to determine whether they are best served in the Service Center or eligible for transfer to the field for further handling.
