Duties include model input data development, maintenance, management, analysis, visualization, and reporting. The selected candidate will be responsible for researching, compiling, extracting, organizing, and analyzing large amounts of data associated with travel demand model development and accessibility data preparation, as well as a variety of other survey data analyses including National Household Transportation Survey, Streetlight OD information, statewide land use and network data collection. The selected candidate will also:<br/>provide support for survey design, calibrating and validating model components, model updates, visualization of data process output, post processing, reporting, and project management; assist in project prioritization analyses (SMART SCALE), evaluating congestion, and accessibility impacts of project applications.<br/>In addition to a rewarding work experience, VDOT offers excellent benefits including competitive health and life insurance programs, pre-tax spending accounts, state funded Short and Long Term Disability Program, a state retirement plan with options for tax deferred retirement savings including employer matching. Miscellaneous benefits include paid holidays, tuition assistance, wellness programs, etc.</p><br/><p><strong>Minimum Qualifications</strong></p><br/><ul><li>Experience in survey design, data collection, analysis, and interpretation, as well as project management.</li><li>Proficiency in programming, mathematics, and statistics for data processing.</li><li>Ability to evaluate, develop, and maintain innovative solutions for transportation planning and mobility initiatives.</li><li>Ability to plan, prioritize, coordinate and complete multiple assignments within scheduled timeframes.</li><li>Proficiency with GIS operation and analysis, and knowledge of programming languages such as Python, R, Java, SAS, SPSS, or SQL.</li><li>The candidate will assist in the development of travel forecasts and transportation plans and will work with both public agencies and the private sector, should be able to communicate complex technical information in a clear and concise manner to non-technical individuals.</li><li>The selected candidate will attend meetings and provide internal and external training per requests.</li><li>The candidate must be detail oriented and has the ability to manage a project within designated timeframes and budgets.</li></ul><br/><p><strong>Additional Considerations</strong></p><br/><ul><li>A combination of training, experience or education in civil engineering or related field desired.</li><li>Experience developing and managing large data sets, and integrating data from different sources and across different platforms, experience with AWS to develop online cloud applications.</li><li>Professional Engineer's license or Certified Planner with American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP).</li></ul><br/><p><strong>Special Instructions</strong></p><br/><p>You will be provided a confirmation of receipt when your application and/or r sum is submitted successfully.
