About the position

As a dedicated Policy and Performance Underwriter Senior at USAA, you will play a crucial role in developing, implementing, and managing personal lines Property and Casualty (P&C) underwriting processes and programs. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure that all underwriting processes are compliant, executed in a cost-efficient manner, and effective in achieving desired outcomes. You will partner with internal stakeholders to maintain P&C underwriting policies and procedures while ensuring compliance with state regulations. This position allows for remote work within the continental U.S., with occasional business travel required. However, please note that relocation assistance is not available for this position. In this role, you will lead the development and implementation of underwriting guidelines, controls, and strategies for all P&C lines of business to achieve optimal outcomes. You will own and manage multiple underwriting processes and experiences by independently gathering qualitative and quantitative analytical data to proactively evaluate and recommend changes to or establish a point of view on the underwriting appetite for product acceptability. As a key contributor, you will also develop underwriting educational programs and tools, provide training and mentoring, and communicate effectively with both internal and external audiences, including underwriting and P&C executive management. Your expertise in data-driven problem-solving techniques will be essential as you leverage data analysis tools to manipulate and interpret business results, translating findings into actionable insights. You will conduct root cause analysis to evaluate and recommend changes to underwriting processes and pilot new strategic and innovative business solutions to optimize and automate these processes. Additionally, you will ensure that risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled in accordance with risk and compliance policies and procedures.

? Pilot new strategic and innovative business solutions to optimize and automate underwriting processes.

? Configure, test, and implement systematic underwriting changes while adhering to rule documentation standards.

? Communicate and share information across the P&C organization, tailoring messaging for various audiences.

? Ensure risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled.

Requirements
? Bachelor's degree or 10 years of related experience in lieu of a degree.
,
? 6 years of experience in Property & Casualty, Project Management, Process Engineering, Business Process, or Risk Management.
,
? Advanced knowledge of relevant industry practices, insurance policy contracts, trends, and regulatory requirements.
,
? Experience in interpreting and applying P&C regulations to mitigate underwriting compliance risk.
,
? Experience in making data-driven decisions to create actionable recommendations for performance improvement.
,
? Experience in presenting analysis and findings to varying levels of management and business stakeholders.
,
? Advanced proficiency using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and/or Access.
